SOUND SYSTEM FOR THE GYMNASIUM
In 2023 we installed a new, state of the art sound system for the gymnasium. The new system allows for an enhanced audio experience during several multi-purpose academic forums such as assemblies, rallies and guest speakers, which will be enjoyed by all of our 2,000 students.
SAFETY BUCKETS
The PDHS Foundation provided every classroom and large gathering place with a five-gallon bucket stuffed with emergency supplies. In the event of a lock-down, lock-in, evacuation, or other emergency, students and teachers will have ready access to basic essentials while remaining securely in place. The PDHS Foundation restocks and refreshes supplies every year as needed.
CAMPUS COMFORT
The PDHS Foundation’s fundraising efforts enabled the purchase of over a dozen benches and tables for outdoor seating, for placement in the areas where students naturally congregate during lunchtime. More comfort = less stress = improved learning!
TURNITIN.COM
A campus-wide benefit, funded by the PDHS Foundation. TurnItIn provides numerous benefits to aid student instruction, including plagiarism detection and computer-generated editing suggestions for draft papers. Our teachers report that student writing improvement is noticeable since implementing TurnItIn at PDHS.
ONE-WAY VISION SAFETY
GRAPHIC FILM
Enhancing the safety of students while also beautifying the PDHS campus, PDHS Foundation is working towards the installation of window films that allow students and teachers to see outside of their windows without allowing a line of sight into the rooms.
PRE-AP CURRICULUM
For the 2020/2021 School Year, the PDHS Foundation funded the purchase of the innovative Pre-AP Curriculum from College Board, making Palm Desert High School the only HIgh School in the Coachella Valley to offer Pre-AP courses. The Pre-AP Program is a program offered to schools by College Board. Pre-AP courses deliver grade-level appropriate instruction through focused course frameworks, instructional resources, learning checkpoints, and collaborative educator workshops. They are designed to support all students across varying levels of abilities through focus. They are not honors or advanced courses. The Program grants educators and their students the space and time for deep engagement with content. Participating schools receive an official Pre-AP designation for each course and the opportunity to bring engaging, meaningful, foundational coursework to all their students across varying levels of abilities. This designation signals consistent, high standards in focused courses that help build, strengthen, and reinforce students’ content knowledge and critical thinking skills.
